    Overview

    Summary:

    Strata Solar is currently seeking an EPC Project Cost Controls Manager for support of solar projects.  General requirements of the position include cost management support for project managers, development of cost forecasts for projects through final completion, updates to cost database information to support future cost estimating efforts, integration of schedule related costs into cost forecasts and regular periodic cost reporting/forecasting.  This position requires the successful individual to be a self-starter, highly reliable and possess the ability to work with minimal day to day guidance.  Adaptability and strong analytical/problem solving skills are also required.  Must be able to work in a fast paced sometimes stressful environment.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    • Responsible to work with execution team (PM, CM, Procurement, Engineering, etc.), to confirm prior cost estimates for correctness against current known execution scope of work.
    • Responsible to review purchase order and subcontract requisitions for each project prior to them being executed to ensure that they are within budget and properly coded. Escalates deviations to project team promptly for issues to be addressed.
    • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly coded for recording in the accounting system.
    • Responsible for developing project cash flow forecasts, aligning contract requirements with internal financial requirements. Escalates potential issues with timing of cash concerns.
    • Provide planning and cost controlling support for projects, including variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes, etc.
    • Perform and manage project activity scheduling and monitoring.
    • Monitor project progress through commodity unit installation reporting to align with earned value against project schedule requirements. Report offsets and assist with the development of remedial action plans.
    • Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery/completion of the project work.
    • Provide inputs and assist with the assembly of monthly internal and/or external customer reporting.
    • Develop project carrying costs model based on execution strategy. Monitor costs and forecast deviations from the plan which materially impact the estimate at completion.
    • Attend project meetings and discussions with the project team and/or external customers as required.
    • Investigate any variances from contractual and/or internal requirements. Support remedial actions necessary to keep budget on track.
    • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • While the position does not have direct personnel supervisory requirements, integration with the larger team and enforcing accountabilities for the position and from those the position integrates with are essential.

    Qualifications

     

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • College degree in engineering, project management, accounting or related field is required
    • 5+ years demonstrated experience in EPC project cost controls (preferably in Solar)
    • Proficiency with common computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, MS Project & SharePoint; Viewpoint, Primavera P-6)
    • Ability to travel to project sites throughout the US
    • Good written and verbal communications skills, as well as being able to be a good team member.  Must be able to develop professional presentation materials as well as present same competently in meetings.
    • Strong organizational skills necessary to document and track matters from inception to resolution
    • Outstanding problem solving skills with the ability to analyze situations and recommend solutions
    • Available for flexible work hours

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 25 pounds.
