Overview

Strata Solar Services (“Strata”) is one of the largest third-party Solar PV Operations & Maintenance providers in the United States and continues to grow, leading to the creation of this new role. The Business Development Associate (BDA) will become a critical part of all business development activity, taking sole responsibility for Strata’s cost estimating, proposal-writing, and work scoping activity. This role works closely with our head of business development as new opportunities are identified, but will also require close working relationships with numerous subject matter experts in the company in order to develop intelligent responses to highly technical requests for proposals. We’re seeking someone who builds deep relationships with peers and pays close attention to detail, never compromising on quality or accuracy.  You don’t need prior solar experience, but you do need to be a quick learner with an ability to teach yourself new technical concepts and should be a proactive individual who takes initiative without prompting.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive and support new business development throughout the entire life cycle
    • Responsible for responding to pricing large corrective maintenance projects
    • Responding to RFPs
    • Field Customer Inquires for additional services and prices O&M Services
    • Identify new BD opportunities and associated leads in the news and other available data sources
    • Manage leads and engagement in our CRM
    • Develop bidding schedules and coordinate with internal personnel on required inputs
    • Prepare professional, compelling written proposals that illustrate what sets Strata apart as a potential customer’s best option for their needs
    • Provide recommended pricing for proposals, based on pricing model inputs and market knowledge
    • Support contract negotiation, including development of scope of work and other appendices
    • Handoff executed contracts to account management team
  • Specialize in Strata’s service offering that to better recommend customized service combinations and cost-effective approaches to meeting customer goals
  • Develop a set of standard written proposal sections that can be used to reduce writing time on each proposal
  • Develop and regularly update a set of standard scopes of work that can be used for most proposals
  • Maintain Strata’s O&M cost model to estimate the cost of performing various services for potential customers
  • Identify trends in customer opportunities to help Strata regularly recalibrate its position as a premier service provider in a quickly changing industry
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the business development process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree required
  • Work experience that demonstrates an ability to self-teach highly technical concepts with minimal formal training materials
  • Outstanding written communication skills that will set your proposals apart from those of our competitors
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities that will enable you to make modifications to our complex Excel-based cost model

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:  

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some tasks assigned at outdoor solar plant sites.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a workday.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction and ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to wear full complement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when visiting solar sites is required.
  •  Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license.
